The main types of door functions are Passage (doors that don’t require locking), Privacy (a door that can be locked by a button on the inside), Dummy (has no mechanical latch and acts only as a pull), and Interior Mortise (door with an active latch with skeleton key lock). Can be opened from outside with a release key.

Single Dummy
A non-functioning door set without a passage/privacy latch, and no locking mechanism.
Used on one side of the door, typically with roller catch, flush bolts or surface bolts.
Surface mounted.

Double Dummy
Two non-functioning door sets (without a passage/privacy latch) are used on both sides of a door, or on side-by-side or French doors (typically used with roller catch, flush bolts or surface bolts).
